Picture Jasper Dangle Earrings, Sterling Silver, Sand Brown Triangle Cabochon, A-Frame Design, Statement Jewelry
Description
The wide triangular picture jasper cabochons in these earrings are warm sand and tan. Deep brown veining cuts across the surface in bold, irregular lines like dried riverbeds or fault lines, the kind of marks the earth makes when water has been gone a long time. The composition shifts between the two stones without repeating, which is the nature of this material. These were cut to put the veining on full display, and the wide triangular shape gives it room.
These are statement stones, and the A-frame setting scales to match: two long curved, textured bars sweep outward dramatically from a small loop at the top, forming a broad open frame that widens as it descends to cradle the bezel-set stone at the base. Silver spheres punctuate the bars at intervals. The metalwork has the same linear texture throughout, and the overall silhouette, wide at the base and open in the center, gives the design a presence that reads across a room.
Hallmarked Blue Piranha and .925. Earrings measure 2½ inches (6.4 cm) long from the top of the ear wire, and 1½ inches (3.8 cm) wide. Set on sterling silver ear wires.

About Picture Jasper:
Picture jasper is a variety of landscape jasper found primarily in Oregon and along the Oregon-Idaho border, where sedimentary deposits produce stones with the kind of scenic patterning that gives the material its name. The color palette runs from pale sand and cream through warm tan and brown, with veining and markings that read convincingly as desert terrain, riverbeds, mountain ridgelines, and open sky depending on how the stone is cut and oriented.
These are sedimentary stones, meaning the patterns record actual geological events: shifts in sediment, mineral deposits, the movement of water through rock over millions of years. American West landscape jaspers are collected and cut domestically, which is part of why they command a premium over imported jasper.
