Agate Geode Pendant, Sterling Silver, Brown White Gem Slice, Handmade Art Jewelry, Natural Stone
Description
Cut open an agate geode and you find a world inside. This particular geode slice reveals warm cream, brown, and white banding that sweeps and feathers across its surface, translucent in some areas and opaque in others, the pattern shifting as the light moves across it. At the center is a natural druzy pocket where crystals formed over time, partially filled now with a cluster of fine silver granules that draw the eye inward, rather than away.
These gem slices come from Brazil, where agate geodes are found in a range of sizes and patterns. This one was chosen for the movement in its banding and the quality of the druzy at its center, two things that don't always appear in the same stone.
The backing has been hand-scalloped to follow the natural shape of the geode, with a textured surface and a deliberate dark patina that deepens the contrast against the warm tones of the stone. Silver granules travel around the perimeter and up onto the handmade bail, tying the composition together from edge to top. It's a lot of considered detail in a pendant that still lets the stone do the talking.
Hallmarked Blue Piranha and .925. The pendant measures 2¼ inches (5.7 cm) long from the top of the bail to the bottom of the pendant, and 1½ inches (3.8 cm) wide. Weight is 14 grams.
Each pendant is available without a chain, so you may use your own if you prefer. If you want to add a chain, I offer different lengths and styles. Every chain comes with a 2-inch extender so you can vary the length. Please choose your chain from the options at checkout.
Your purchase arrives gift boxed, presented in a soft pouch with a story card.
Good for: the collector whose jewelry has always had a story attached. A keepsake for the person who finds beauty in cross-sections, in interiors, in things revealed. The woman who wears something that looks equally at home around her neck or in a natural history museum.

About Agate Geodes:
Agate slices are thin cross-sections of geodes from Brazil, cut to reveal the banding and crystal formations within. The patterns vary from stone to stone, as no two geodes produce the same interior, and many have a central druzy pocket where fine crystals formed as the geode developed. Agate is a hard, durable chalcedony that takes a high polish and is found worldwide, but Brazilian geodes are particularly prized for the range and clarity of their banding.
