About Blue Piranha

Welcome! I’m Jill, the woman and creative force behind Blue Piranha. I’m a knowledge seeker and a dreamer with a love of adornment and a passion for history. My road to jewelry design was a winding one, but every step was a learning experience. Eventually I found my way to not just loving jewelry but also bringing it to life. 

The creative process begins with an idea and a sketchbook, and my designs are fabricated by using raw metal and centuries-old techniques. Every piece is designed as much for longevity as for aesthetic appeal and meant to be loved for generations.

Bold, color-saturated gems are a Blue Piranha hallmark. Twenty-five years in the Southwest leave an impression as vast landscapes, bright skies, and fiery sunsets infuse one’s soul with a thirst for color. Every gem that becomes a piece of jewelry is hand-selected for cut, quality, and visual appeal.

A love of history led to collecting antique buttons, which are given new life in custom designs. These lovely relics, many more than a century old, come from a world that no longer exists. The design and creative processes that brought them into being are long gone, but these miniature works of art continue to appeal in the modern world. 

Some of the original buttons become one-of-a-kind creations, but others offer motivational mottos and images which provide more than just aesthetic appeal. Selected buttons are cast into sterling silver pendants, earrings, and rings, and offered as historical reproductions. This allows their messages to live on as jewelry, uplifting and inspiring a broader audience.

Living the life of a designer is a thrilling dream, and I’m grateful every day for the collectors who have become a part of the Blue Piranha family over the years. It’s an honor and a privilege to share this creative journey with all of you.
