A bold gem in an equally bold setting: a shattuckite cabochon with jagged, high-contrast patterning sits in a setting that's strong enough to balance, rather than compete, with it. Shattuckite is typically found in the same dry, dusty locales that produce turquoise and chrysocolla, and like those gems, its lively coloring is driven by its copper content. It's rare enough that most people have never seen it outside a mineral collection, but when cut and polished, its bold coloring and dense visual patterning offer a compelling presentation.

Spheres of various sizes surround the stone. Each sphere is individually planned and placed so the grouping gives a "frilled" effect, which ornaments the stone rather than overpowering it. The dark silver echoes the deep bands within the stone, while the high shine enhances the vivid teal blue of this unusual gem. .

Hallmarked .925 and Blue Piranha.

Size: 1 3/4 inches (4.5 cm) long from top of bail to bottom of pendant, and just under 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide. Weight is 10.2 grams.
