The "Happy Star" pendant began as a personal reminder, a small piece of silver to wear on the days when the forward direction isn't obvious. At the center of a scalloped disc, a raised five-pointed star sends rays outward to the edge in every direction, like a compass rose that isn't pointing anywhere specific, because every direction is available. The five-pointed star is one of the oldest symbols of wholeness in the human record: spirit at the top, earth, water, fire, and air at the other four points, the complete map of what we're made of. The finish is lightly oxidized so the recessed lines hold shadow and the raised star catches the light.
