One word. "Persevere." In Latin, "Perseverando." The word has been used as a heraldic motto for centuries, chosen by families who wanted steadfastness and resilience to be what defined their house. 

The pendant carries three elements, each one chosen from a tradition of heraldic meaning. The open hand on a shield is a pledge of faith and a declaration of sincerity. The wings above signify swiftness and protection, the capacity to act and to shelter. Below them both, the motto. Faith, protection, and the will to continue.

The pendant is cast from an antique livery button. These buttons were worn in the 18th and 19th centuries by soldiers, household staff, and royal servants, each one bearing the crest or insignia of the family they served.

Cast sterling silver. Hallmarked Blue Piranha and .925. The back of the button is marked Platt & Company.

This pendant measures 1½ inches (3.8 cm) long and 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide, about the size of a U.S. quarter. Weightis 10 grams.
