Summer doesn’t ask permission. It arrives at full volume, heat and light and abundance all at once, the season that holds nothing back. If spring is the promise, summer is the proof; it’s the moment when potential becomes actual, when the world stops becoming and simply is. It is the shortest season in one sense, the solstice tipping toward dark almost as soon as it arrives, but while it lasts, there’s nothing tentative about it. It’s also a season in a woman's life that belongs entirely to her, when she's fully herself and fully present, standing in her own light without wondering if it's too much.

In this allegory Summer faces forward with sun rays all around her, the light filling the scene at her back like a crown she was born wearing. A daisy ornament sits at her temple, hair full and loose at her shoulders, a sunflower opening at her side. She’s in the world with the ease of someone who has nothing left to prove. This is not the uncertainty of spring or the patience of winter. This is a woman in full summer bloom.

Every culture that has marked the solstice has understood it as more than a date. It’s the moment of maximum light, the day the sun reaches its highest point and the world is as illuminated as it will ever be. The Celts called it Litha and celebrated it as a time of power, of fire, of fullness arrived. But summer has always carried a second meaning alongside the seasonal one: it represents the woman who has grown into herself. She no longer reaches toward the light, because she’s become it. She’s the woman who basks not just in the sunlight, but in her own inimitable glow. 

This pendant is part of a series of four, each cast from a French Art Nouveau button of the early twentieth century. Spring, Summer, and Winter are each listed separately in the shop. They can be worn alone or collected over time, one season at a time. 

Cast sterling silver, hallmarked Blue Piranha and .925. 

The pendant measures 1¼ inches, or 3.2 cm, long and ¾ inch, or 1.9 cm, wide, including the bail. Weight: 4.5 grams.

Each pendant is available without a chain, so you may use your own if you prefer. If you want to add a chain, I offer different lengths and styles. Every chain comes with a 2-inch extender, so you can vary the length. Please choose your chain from the options at checkout.
