Fossil Coral Dangle Earrings, Sterling Silver, Brown Teardrop Cabochon, Natural Gem, Handmade Statement Jewelry
Description
Fossilized coral has its own quietly beautiful surface patterns. The teardrop cabochons in this pair are warm tan and pale cream, with the original coral's cellular structure preserved across the entire surface in small, repeating forms that radiate outward from dense centers. The pattern is fine enough that the stone reads as richly textured rather than busy, the kind of surface that rewards a closer look without demanding one from across the room. Where the patterning concentrates, the color deepens slightly toward warm brown. Where it opens up, the stone lightens toward cream.
Each stone sits in a sterling silver bezel. A small textured open circle sits above each bezel, flanked by two silver spheres where the loop meets the stone.
Hallmarked Blue Piranha and .925. Earrings measure 1¾ inches (4.5 cm) long from the top of the ear wire, and ½ inch (1.3 cm) wide. Set on sterling silver ear wires.
A lever back option is available, please see photos and note your preference at checkout.
Your purchase arrives gift boxed, presented in a soft pouch with a story card.
Good for: the friend who notices texture before color, and always finds something worth looking at in both. The woman who finds ancient things worth wearing. The collector who understands that the surface isn't merely decoration, but a record.

About Fossilized Coral:
Fossilized coral occurs when ancient coral reefs are buried under sediment and silica-rich groundwater moves through the original material over millions of years, gradually replacing the coral with agate. This is the same process that produces petrified wood, and the coral's cellular structure, the physical record of how it grew and what lived inside it, is preserved in the replacement mineral with remarkable fidelity. The result is a stone that carries the pattern of something that was alive hundreds of millions of years ago. Fossilized coral is found in several locations worldwide, with notable deposits in Indonesia, the United States, and parts of Africa. Each stone is a cross-section of a reef that no longer exists.
