This oval Montana agate cabochon is warm, creamy, and translucent, with dark brown and black dendritic inclusions branching across the interior. No two Montana agates form the same picture, and this one has the kind of composition that evokes a smoky autumn sky. 

The stone comes from the Yellowstone River valley in southeastern Montana, one of the few places in the world where this particular agate forms. The inclusions are natural, the result of iron and manganese moving through chalcedony over time. 

A sterling silver bezel holds the cabochon, surrounded by a dot-and-line textured silver frame with silver spheres placed at intervals around the edge. The handmade bail is substantial enough to accommodate a variety of chain widths and styles, which suits the unisex character of the piece. 

Hallmarked Blue Piranha and .925. The pendant measures 1¾ inches (4.5 cm) long from the top of the bail to the bottom of the pendant, and 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide. Weight is just over 14.5 grams. 

Each pendant is available without a chain, so you may use your own if you prefer. If you want to add a chain, I offer different lengths and styles. Every chain comes with a 2-inch extender so you can vary the length. Please choose your chain from the options at checkout.

Its base ranges from nearly clear to warm cream, and its inclusions, iron and manganese deposits that forms as the stone develops, branching across the interior in dark brown and black dendritic patterns.
