Lodolite Pendant, Sterling Silver, Garden Quartz, Oxidized Granulation, Artisan Jewelry, Handmade Necklace
Description
Lodolite goes by several names - garden quartz, inclusion quartz, scenic quartz - and every one of them is trying to describe the same thing: a stone that looks like a world contained inside a stone. This one carries warm olive green and rust-red inclusions that drift through in patterns that look almost atmospheric rather than mineral. Lodolite's unique visual appeal (the quartz acts as a magnifier for the inclusions) and its naturally formed inclusions create a sort of "inner world" that can feel like gazing into a crystal ball.
Spheres in various sizes arc across the top and extend slightly down the sides. Each sphere is individually placed so the grouping gives a "frilled" effect which ornaments the stone, rather than overpowering it. In this design, smaller spheres were used more often than larger, mimicking the tiny inclusions that seem to float within the gem.
Hallmarked .925 and Blue Piranha.
Size: just under 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) long from top of bail to bottom of pendant, and just under 1inch (2.5 cm) wide. Weight is 10.7 grams.
The pendant arrives gift boxed in a soft pouch with a story card.
Each pendant is available without a chain. If you'd like to add one, I offer several lengths and styles, please choose from the options at checkout. Every chain comes with a 2-inch extender so you can vary the length.
Good for: the person whose jewelry choices have always reflected a curiosity about the world, and wants a pendant that reflects it back. The jewelry lover whose taste runs toward the understated but who has never once been boring. The woman who collects things with an inner life, and recognizes one immediately when she sees it.

About Lodolite
Lodolite is a variety of clear or translucent quartz containing inclusions of other minerals, most commonly chlorite, feldspar, iron oxide, or several in combination. The inclusions create internal landscapes that range from mossy and botanical to atmospheric and painterly, which is why the stone is also called garden quartz, inclusion quartz, and scenic quartz. No two lodolite stones carry the same internal composition, as the color of the inclusions depends entirely on which minerals were present during the stone's formation. Chlorite produces greens, iron oxide produces reds and oranges, and combinations of the two produce the warm, complex palettes the finest specimens are known for. Lodolite is found in several locations worldwide, with Brazil being among the most significant sources. It's cut and polished to maximize the inclusion landscape, which requires orienting the rough carefully before the first cut is made.
